Indian powerlifting takes fourth in Seagraves

Breaking records– Senior Ian Alvidrez lifts 1,560 pounds at the Seminole meet on Jan. 24. Alvidrez has broken the region record twice since January.

The Indian powerlifting team took fourth in the Seagraves meet on Feb. 16 with 25 points.

The team has one more qualifying meet in Pecos on Feb. 23, with five Indians currently ranked in the top 12 in their weight classes and would qualify for regionals.

Senior Ian Alvidrez currently holds the region’s top position in the 220-pound division after breaking the region total record by 55 pounds (1,615 pounds) on Feb. 9 in Levelland and again in Seagraves by 55 pounds (1,670 pounds).

123-pound division–Anthony Tran-third (245 + 150 + 290  = 685 pounds)

148-pound division–Gabriel Zubiate-third (365 + 170 + 375 = 910 pounds), Luis Zubiate-fifth (330 + 165 + 380 = 875 pounds), Adalberto Verdugo-13th (260 + 135 + 270 = 665 pounds)

165-pound division–Devin Doerksen-fourth (425 + 230 + 460 = 1,115 pounds), Hayden Gray-sixth (370 + 225 + 375 = 970 pounds)

181-pound division–William Hewitt-fourth (400 + 210 + 360 = 970 pounds)

220-pound division–Ian Alvidrez-first (670 + 380 + 620 = 1,670 pounds), Irvin Delgado-seventh (435 + 220 + 410 = 1,065 pounds)

242-pound division–Caleb Alexander-third (435 + 210 + 380 = 1,025 pounds)

275-pound division–Kwinton Jennings-first (555 + 270 + 530 = 1,355 pounds)
