Cross country teams compete at Plains meet

They’re off– The Maiden cross country team jockeys for position at the start of the Plains meet in Yoakum County Park on Sept. 13. The Maidens finished third overall.

The cross country teams saw their first action on Sept. 13 at Yoakum County Park in a meet sponsored by Plains.

The Indian team finished fifth overall with 185 points. Sophomore Ian Diaz came in sixth place (18:17:6).

“I did decent at the meet,” Diaz said. “I could have run a lot better and placed a lot better.”

The Maidens finished third overall with 129 points. Freshman Celene Diaz came in 17th with a time of 14:58.

“I did well since it was my first meet ever,” Celene said. “I didn’t really like running until this year.”
