Freshman Michael Condarco became the lone Seminole runner to qualify for regionals on Oct. 27 at the district at Gaines County Park.
Condarco took seventh place in 19 minutes and .25 seconds.
“It feels nice,” Condarco said. “I did pretty well. I just finished the race as well as I could. I gave it my all…I felt like I had nothing to worry about.”
Condarco will run at regionals on Nov. 6 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
The varsity men’s team finished just out of the regional team qualifying spots in fourth with 80 points.
The varsity women took fifth place with 101 points. Junior Berenice Dominguez was the top finisher for SHS in 13th.
“I felt good running the race until the last part,” Dominguez said.
Three-time regional qualifier senior Susie Thiessen did not make it a four-peat this time.
“I’m really sad,” Thiessen said. “This was my last year to qualify…I didn’t pull through like I could have.”
