Students excel in Special Olympics

Medal Maidens– Freshman Makayla Duncan and sophomore Savannah Gonzales show off their hardware after the shotput competition.

Seven students took awards at the Special Olympics competition held in Wolfforth on April 25.

In the 400-meter relay, the team of freshman Makayla Duncan, freshman Alex Hinojasa, junior Nic Garcia and sophomore Savannah Gonzales took a bronze medal for third place.

In the 100-meter walk, graduate Kuger Dolloff took a bronze third place.

In 50-meter walk, sophomore Edel Klassen took a silver second place.

In 25-meter wheelchair race, graduate Hanah Casey took a gold first place.

In shotput, Duncan took a gold first place, Gonzales took a bronze third place and Garcia took a ribbon fourth place.

In softball throw, Klassen took a gold first place, while Dolloff and Hinojasa tied for bronze third place.
