Speech team wins in San Angelo

The speech team won the San Angelo meet on Nov. 15.

In poetry, freshman Isabel Acosta took first, junior Daniel Griffin took fourth, sophomore Madeline Hiebert took fifth, junior Haylie Hicks took seventh, and sophomore Lauren Franco took eighth.

In duet acting, senior Alisssa Wright and junior Kelby Miller took third, junior Kolt Blackmon and sophomore Faith Klassen took fourth, sophomore Ashley Harder and Hicks took fifth, and junior America Hernandez and sophomore Claudia Ramos took sixth.

In duo interpretation, Harder and Klassen were first, senior Jimmie Vaughn and senior Kyle Rickman were fourth, senior Erynn James and junior Vanessa Torres were fifth, and junior Destiny Winn and senior Raquel Rivera were sixth.

In dramatic interpretation, Miller was first, sophomore Grace Hatley was third, Blackmon was fourth, senior Jordan Smith was fifth, and Hicks was sixth.

In impromptu speaking, Acosta was second. In prose, junior Ivan Froese took first, Hatley took third, sophomore David Glendinning took fifth, and Hiebert was sixth.

In humorous interpretation, Miller was second, Wright was third, Hicks was fourth, Klassen was fifth, and Smith was sixth.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, junior Cassandra Schultz was second.

In foreign extemporaneous speaking, Vaughn was fourth.

In original oratory, Vaughn was fifth. Klassen was outstanding interper, while Vaughn, Harder, and Hicks qualified for state competition.
