AP Bio ♦♦♦◊◊

AP Bio is a comedy series that airs 8/9 central on Fridays on NBC. It is rated MA for its crude humor and use of profanity.

The series follows Jack Griffin, a philosophy scholar who lands a career as an advanced placement biology teacher after losing his job to a bitter rival.

After learning that his class is full of honors students, Griffin plans to trick the school’s principal in order to use their talents to take vengeance upon his adversary.

The cast of the show includes Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Griffin, Patton Oswalt (The King of Queens) as the school’s principal, and Allisyn Ashley Arm (Sonny with a Chance) as one of Griffin’s students.

The show was created by Seth Meyers, Mike O’Brien, and Lorne Michaels, of  Saturday Night Live fame. The trio invented the series during their time on SNL.

When watching the pilot episode of the series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. With some of my favorite actors portraying the main characters, I was immediately hooked from the start.

I was, however, a bit disappointed with some of the other characters on the show, mostly the students. A majority of them were stereotyped and acted in ways a normal person wouldn’t.

Despite the  clichés, AP Bio manages to stand out from other comedies in the media. It isn’t common to see a teacher use his students for an elaborate revenge plot. This isn’t my favorite show I’ve reviewed, but I do recommend it. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 diamonds.
