The UIL academic team competed in the Wink invitational on Feb. 4. No team awards were given at this meet.

In current issues and events, junior Katie Spradlin took first.

In the 12th grade division of calculator applications, senior Bethany Jones took first.

In the 11th grade division, junior J.J. Ayala took second.

In the 12th grade division of number sense, senior Sarah Smith took first.

In computer applications, senior Nick Acosta took fifth.

In spelling an vocabulary, freshman Jeremy Lawrence took second and sophomore Brittney Weeks took sixth.

In literary criticism, junior Kami Luettgen took second.

In science, Ayala took first overall and first in the 11th grade division.

In ready writing, senior Yesenia Olivas took first.

In news writing, junior Anna Teichroeb took first and senior Eva Neufeld took second.

In feature writing, Neufeld took second, Teichroeb took third, sophomore Dustie Barron took fourth and Spradlin took fifth.

In editorial writing, Neufeld took first and Barron took fourth.

In headline writing, Neufeld took first, Teichroeb took third and Barron took sixth.

In mathematics, Smith took fifth.
