Speech team takes win in El Paso

The speech team took first at the El Paso Del Valle High School meet on Nov. 19, defeating 10 other teams.

In duo interpretation, junior Alex Gonzalez and junior Carter Laramore took first, senior Lauren Franco and sophomore Dillon Gutierrez were third, senior Ashley Harder and senior Faith Klassen took fifth, and junior Isabel Acosta and senior Grace Hatley took sixth.

In duet acting, senior Madeline Hiebert and Laramore took first, Gutierrez and sophomore Phiona Hiebert were third, Klassen and Acosta took fourth, Gonzalez and Harder took fifth, and Hatley and senior Nikki Loewen took sixth.

In humorous interpretation, Gonzalez took first, M. Hiebert was second, Gutierrez was third, and P. Hiebert took fourth.

In dramatic interpretation, Klassen took second, sophomore Amy Schultz took third,  Loewen was fourth, and Hatley was fifth.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, junior Lori Wilson was third, and sophomore Nat Little took fourth.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, Wilson took second, and Little was third.

Gonzalez was named outstanding performer in interp.

 Little,  Gonzalez and  Laramore  picked up state qualifications.
