The one-act play A Night in Jail with Thoreau advanced to the bi-district level along with Greenwood and Andrews on March 26. They will compete in Seminole on April 9.

The UIL changed the post-district advancement to a three-play advancement to a bi-district level instead of two advancing to area as it was last year.

Junior Blayne Childers took best actress and sophomore Nikki Loewen took best actress. Junior Daniel Griffin and senior Kyle Rickman were named to the all-star cast.

The play accumulated 39 points toward the overall district championship in academics. The remainder of district academic competition will occur on April 6 and 7 in Andrews and Monahans.

Non-scoring awards went to the Seminole crew and best technician senior Sarah Shirley.
